Kemer Country

Istanbul, Turkey
Torti Gallas crafted a site plan and residential architecture deeply connected to the traditions of Turkey.

Kemer Country, located adjacent to a 15th century aqueduct, is an awe inspiring resort community in one of Turkey’s most beautiful developing areas of Istanbul.  Torti Gallas created a carefully crafted site plan and residential architecture deeply connected to the traditions of Turkey. Projecting window bays, sloping roofs with deep overhangs and expressed brackets that provide sun shading, and extensive wood detailing and trim are employed to convey stylings of traditional Turkish architecture.

Unit types range from small apartment buildings to townhouses clustered in an adhoc fashion reminiscent of traditional Turkish Villages. A series of pedestrian walks, reminiscent of Turkey’s older cities, was designed to encourage interaction between residents and to provide public gathering spaces along the waterfront.  Typical floor plans feature a large central living space, long an integral part of the Turkish home. Other amenities include a Club House, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, a lake for water sports, a Health and Fitness Centre, Seminar and Conference Halls and Restaurants.
