No single decision creates great places - the magic happens when a holistic approach is used that addresses diverse elements simultaneously and combines them in the right way to create the “story” of a place. The public realm, land use, architecture and programming must work in harmony to result in a truly noteworthy destination.
TG+P has been dedicated to Placemaking for decades, creating authentic, unique, vibrant, and diverse destinations. Our experience includes Retail Placemaking, Strategic Placemaking, including Innovation Districts, Creative Placemaking, with an arts focus, and Tactical Placemaking, immediate, small and temporary interventions.

We bring extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, and we take pride in balancing the diverse needs of communities with the realities of the marketplace to create visionary, yet buildable, solutions that bring value to our clients. Our Planning, Urban Design, and Neighborhood Design work happens at a variety of densities and scales - whether for greenfield developments, suburban revitalization, inner cities, military communities, or for 1,000s of acres or 1-acre.
TG+P has designed over 1,800communities. Since our founding, these projects have resulted in more than $75billion of construction, illustrating our dedication to full implementation over the past 70+ years of practice. We have been at the forefront of the walkable communities revolution for over 30-years. This means that our clients are the beneficiaries of the extensive knowledge that only comes from built projects, whether that be from full design of real estate development projects or the realization of development through implementation tools for cities. Much of this work is Transit Oriented Development-focused.
Research shows that the design of our communities significantly influences population health. We are leaders in healthy community and healthy building design with several certified projects. A case study tool we developed allows us to project the health outcomes of one community design over another. Interrelated, we have also created the H.O.D. (Hospital Oriented Development) concept – this prototype/approach leverages the hospital economic engine to benefit both the hospital and the community.
