Project Description

Homes and neighborhoods at Andrews Air Force Base are being transformed into highly desirable communities that not only exceed the quality of the local area market, but incorporate the best planning and architecture of the region.  The Urban Design plan will transform several existing neighborhoods to create a central Public Green that includes a new Welcome Center with an outdoor pool which will become the symbolic and functional heart of the residential community. This Public Green aggressively expands community amenities with 1 new basketball court, two multi-purpose courts, and two volleyball courts.

New Hamlet Greens to the north and south will be created, with the green to the north consisting of a new picnic shelter, tot lots, a new tennis court, and an existing basketball court.

Colonial style homes are in keeping with the historic architecture of the area and provide comfortable functional homes with ample windows, modern features, private yard space, traditional facades, and garages for every home.

Great care is taken to provide each home with distinct architectural features, colors, details, and materials so that each house will have its own identity and feel like “home”.  Garages are set back from the street or located at the rear of the house, allowing for a truly pedestrian friendly environment. In total, 200 new units will be built and 214 units will be renovated.  Amenities are well distributed throughout the neighborhoods and linked to each other by a fitness trail so each home is in close proximity, and in convenient walking distance to both passive and active recreation activities.
