Neal Payton Discusses Creating Open Space!

Neal Payton will be part of an educational session on creating open space at the APA's 2018 National Planning Conference in New Orleans!

Neal Payton will be speaking Saturday, April 21st at the American Planning Association's 2018 National Planning Conference in New Orleans! Neal will be part of an educational session titled "Creation of Open Space in Downtowns" along with Sarah Nurmela of the City of Westminster, CO and Michael Cummins of the City of Bellevue, WA.

Neal and the Torti Gallas team worked with both Ms. Nurmela and Mr. Cummins on the Westminster New Downtown, providing a vision and a framework for a new downtown for the City of Westminster, located in the Denver-Boulder tech corridor. The redevelopment plan lays the fabric for an urban mixed-use neighborhood with 2,000 new homes, 21 acres of open space and over 1,000,000 SF of both office and retail space on a 105-acre site formerly used as an indoor shopping mall.

This session will discuss obtaining open space and will look at recent approaches taken in Westminster, Santa Monica, CA and Bellevue, WA.
