Torti Gallas is very proud to announce that our Maplewood Housing at Cornell University is the recipient of a 2021 NAHB Pillars of the Industry Award! Maplewood was the winner in the Best Student Housing Rental Apartment Community category.
Working with developer Greystar/EdR and Cornell University, Torti Gallas designed this new on-campus graduate and professional student housing community as a mix of apartments and townhomes with active and passive outdoor spaces and shared community amenities. Primarily oriented towards university graduate students, the project includes 444 units (872 beds) in 5 low-rise apartment buildings, 100 three- to four-bedroom townhomes and 29 two-bedroom stacked flat townhomes (2 townhomes stacked over 1 accessible flat).
Sensitivity to context, connectivity to the town and university, a diversity of building types and architectural character, and thoroughly integrated sustainability distinguish the Maplewood community, seamlessly linking Cornell University housing to the Town of Ithaca.
