The Parks at Walter Reed Receives a 2019 CNU Charter Award!!

The Parks at Walter Reed has received a 2019 CNU Charter Award! The Parks is being developed by Hines-Urban Atlantic-Triden and designed by Torti Gallas.

Excited and proud to announce that The Parks at Walter Reed has won a 2019 Charter Award from the Congress for the New Urbanism!!

Regarded as the preeminent award for excellence in urban design, the CNU Charter Awards honor a select number of winners and honorable mentions that embody and advance the principles of the Charter of the New Urbanism.

The Parks at Walter Reed is the adaptive reuse and redevelopment of the 67-acre historically significant Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Decommissioned in 2011, the property was acquired by the District of Columbia. Subsequently, the City selected the team of Hines-Urban Atlantic-Triden to redevelop the site. As part of the development team Torti Gallas created an Urban Design Plan and Urban Design and Architecture Guidelines for new development.

The approximately three million square foot development, which will open in 2024, is designed with a full spectrum of uses to provide for housing, employment, job training, medical care, medical research, a hotel/conference center, a charter school, arts programming, historic interpretation, social services, retail, and a museum.

Congratulations to all!!!
