In his role as the firm’s Director of Technical Resources, Mr. Coleman is responsible to review Design Drawings and Construction Documents for compliance with firmwide and industry standards with an eye on future opportunities for improvement. This includes working with different focus groups within the firm to maintain and update current firmwide detail and documentation standards and using the enhanced technological capabilities of the firm to facilitate improvement in the completeness and accuracy of the drawings and specifications prepared by the firm and its consultant engineers. Bringing together the diverse experiences of other firm leaders to identify, adopt, and implement new and improved design and delivery methods is also key to achieving the improvements expected by the firm and demanded by the industry as a whole. Meeting those challenges is vital to the ongoing support of Architectural Construction Phase Services efforts, field observation services, RFI and submittal review, in-house Construction Administration, and evaluation of substitution requests.
His 42+ years with the firm is vital in maintaining a connection to the firm’s history of design excellence, technical proficiency, and lessons learned over decades of experience. Mr. Coleman’s responsibilities at Torti Gallas include conducting individual drawing reviews at each phase, review of proposal letters and contract agreements, coordination of firmwide staffing, preparation of specifications, management and monitoring of day-to-day progress of multiple projects from the beginning of Conceptual Design through the completion of construction, and support of technical and construction phase services.
Mr. Coleman graduated from Clemson University in 1977, became a registered Architect in Maryland in 1996, obtained his NCARB certification in 2019, and is also a Registered Architect in the States of Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Florida, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
