To facilitate this rehabilitation the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $30.5 million Choice Neighborhoods Grant for the re-development and urban revitalization of the community. The San Francisco Chronicle called the award a “jump start” for the revitalization effort that is transforming the Alice Griffith development and creating new opportunities for the community and its residents.
